Have you put off learning Dreamweaver and web design? This Dreamweaver seminar will show you the step-by-step process of taking your web designs to the web with HTML and CSS. First you'll learn the web creation process that most of us take to get from concept to reality. Next, see how Dreamweaver provides visual tools to help you create the HTML and CSS necessary to bring your design online. This all-day session will help designers take control of their web designs, and show you how to work more closely with web developers as you design more robust user experiences.

In the afternoon, learn how your new HTML/CSS chops can be used to create web layouts and add interactive elements. Learn to use Dreamweaver's site management tools to control your website, and even see examples of Spry widgets and code hinting features to help you tie it all together.

By the day's end, you'll have a grasp of how HTML and CSS work in conjunction with web graphics to bring your web site design to life.

An Intro to CSS and HTML concepts (8:30-9:30)

You’ll step into 21st century web design as you learn about CSS: the foundation of a Web site. To build sites, it’s important to learn the principles of HTML, CSS, and CSS-based layout. CSS controls the site design and construction and is made easy with the built–in Dreamweaver CSS layout tools.

Website Workflow and prototyping (9:45-10:45)

To get things started we’ll take a look at web creation workflows that include programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. You'll learn the process that is taken from start to finish to get your site from design to reality. Along the way, you'll learn important concepts like what CSS is and how it works.

Break - 10:45–11:00am

Dreamweaver basics (11:00-12:00)

First we'll set up a Dreamweaver site, then begin with a new, blank web page. We'll walk step-by-step through creating an HTML page. Next, we'll style that page by creating a new, blank CSS file. We'll link the two, and begin to style the page like a pro.

LUNCH ON YOUR OWN - 12–1:15

Principles of CSS Layout (1:15-2:15)

Step into CSS-based layout. with Dreamweaver, learning how to build a website with CSS, text, images, links, and more. We’ll focus on an overview of the tools, workspace, panels, and document construction as well as all of the built–in CSS tools to make page creation easier.

Creative Suite Integration (2:15-3:15)

Now that you have the page layout and text started, it’s time to bring content in from Photoshop and Illustrator using different methods. You'll see how easy it can be to transition your site from design to reality.

Break - 3:15–3:30

Adding Multimedia and Spry  (3:30–4:30)

In the section, we'll explore how Dreamweaver lets us add Flash (.swf) and Flash video (.flv) directly to our web pages, how to use Spry menu bars and other content to add some easy, powerful interactivity to your site, and more.

Q & A (4:30-5:00)

Beginning with creating and styling lists on your pages, you'll build on that knowledge to create a navigation system to get around the pages in your site. You'll also learn some easy ways to add pre–built navbars using copy and paste.
