Seminar Schedule

  • Registration opens at 8:30am

  • Tricks Every InDesign User Needs to Know (9:00–10:15)

We’ve traveled around the world doing InDesign training, and we’ve distilled out many of the tricks that every InDesign user should know. From essential shortcuts to automating document creation and making InDesign work for you, this session is chock-full of insider goodness that's good for you.

  • Working with Text and Graphics (10:30–11:15)

  • Learn the secrets of how the InDesign masters import and manage their text and graphics—from the fastest way to create styles to the most efficient way to layout and manipulate linked images. Explore tricks for flowing long documents, placing graphics, and formatting type in the blink of an eye.

  • Layout Techniques (11:30–12:15)

Creating an InDesign document is like constructing a building—if you don’t know how to build a firm foundation, the whole thing could come tumbling down. In this session, you’ll learn some of the most important layout techniques, including working with master pages, layers, libraries, and templates.

  •                     LUNCH ON YOUR OWN (12:15–1:45)

  • InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator (1:45–2:30)

  • %u2028%u2028If you use Illustrator and/or Photoshop alongside InDesign, you have to see this session. Find out the best way to make these programs work together, including working with vectors from Illustrator and manipulating Photoshop files, all from within InDesign.%u2028

  • Troubleshooting (2:45–3:15)

  • InDesign is a very robust program, but everyone has troubles sooner or later. Learn how to manage when the application acts odd, your document freaks out, or you just can’t figure out why something is happening. The fix is usually not as hard as you fear.

  • Free and Low-Cost Scripts, Plug-ins, and Resources (3:30–4:15)

  • If you’re just using the features built in to InDesign, you’re not being as efficient as you could be. Learn what free and low-cost add-ons you need to boost your productivity, automate mundane tasks, and expand on InDesign's capabilities.

    Problem? Solution. (4:15–4:45)

  • Everyone comes to these conferences with at least one burning question about InDesign that tragically doesn’t get addressed during the day. Here’s your chance to ask that question, and learn something from the answers to your colleague’s questions.

  • Bonus Session:

Flash Catalyst, Flash authoring without writing code (5 - 6:30)
New from Adobe and built specifically for designers, Flash
Catalyst enables you to create interactive content without writing code. With
Flash Catalyst, you can take advantage of the expressiveness of Flash
technology and the ubiquity of Flash Player to deliver compelling
interactivity, video, and audio to computers around the world. Transform
artwork created in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Fireworks into high-quality
interactive content that can liven up your web pages or make complex
information engaging and easier to understand. Design simple projects, such as
an interactive portfolio site or product brochure, that you can complete
yourself in SWF format. Or tackle more complex projects such as a user
interface for a web application built in collaboration with a developer. While
you design visually in the foreground, Flash Catalyst generates Adobe Flex®
    code in the background.
