  • 10 Tricks Every InDesign User Needs to Know (9:00–10:15)

Here are ten tricks that every InDesign user should know (but few people do). From essential shortcuts to formatting imported text and graphics quickly, this session is chock-full o’ jewels that are good (and good for you, too).

    Text and Graphics (10:30–11:15)

Learn how the InDesign masters import and manage their text and graphics—from the fastest way to apply styles to the most efficient way to control transparency and linked images. Explore tricks for flowing long documents, anchoring images to text, and formatting type in the blink of an eye.

    Layout Techniques (11:30–11:45)

Creating an InDesign document is like constructing a building—if you don’t know how to build a firm foundation, the whole thing could come tumbling down. In this short session, you’ll learn some of the most important layout techniques, including working with master pages, layout adjustment, guides, and alignment.

  • EXTENSIS FONT MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY PRESENTATION & SPONSORED LUNCH (12:00–1:15)

  • Suitcase Fusion 3: Typography Without Limits

Design today requires the ability to work across different applications and media types. Font selections, however, rarely translate to the web or are easy to quickly look through to try something new or find a complementary option for consistent branding across all media.

Extensis will show you how Suitcase Fusion 3 can be used as a central clearinghouse for fonts, wherever you use them. See how effective font management can help you achieve brand consistency with your designs in Adobe InDesign CS5, whatever the target output: print or web.

  • InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator: Put ’Em Together (1:30–2:15)

  • If you use Illustrator and/or Photoshop alongside InDesign, you have to see this session. Find out the best way to make these programs work together, including ensuring maximum quality while maintaining maximum flexibility.

    Troubleshooting (2:30–3:15)

  • InDesign is a very robust program, but everyone has troubles sooner or later. Learn how to manage when the application acts odd, your document freaks out, or you just can’t figure out why something is happening. The fix is usually not as hard as you fear.

    InDesign and Interactivity (3:30–4:15)

InDesign is the world’s greatest print layout tool, but did you know that it’s quickly becoming the leading platform for producing emedia content like interactive PDFs and ePubs? InDesign CS5 even lets you export your document for viewing with the Adobe Flash Player! In this session, you’ll learn how to build interactive documents that engage your audience with not just the beautiful layout and stunning typography for which InDesign is known, but also with video, audio, animation, hyperlinks, buttons and much more!

  • Problem? Solution. (4:15–4:45)

  • Everyone comes to these conferences with at least one burning question about InDesign that doesn’t get addressed during the day. Here’s your chance to ask that question, and learn something from the answers to your colleague’s questions.

  • Bonus Session:

Flash Catalyst, Flash authoring without writing code
New from Adobe and built specifically for designers, Flash
Catalyst enables you to create interactive content without writing code. With
Flash Catalyst, you can take advantage of the expressiveness of Flash
technology and the ubiquity of Flash Player to deliver compelling
interactivity, video, and audio to computers around the world. Transform
artwork created in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Fireworks into high-quality
interactive content that can liven up your web pages or make complex
information engaging and easier to understand. Design simple projects, such as
an interactive portfolio site or product brochure, that you can complete
yourself in SWF format. Or tackle more complex projects such as a user
interface for a web application built in collaboration with a developer. While
you design visually in the foreground, Flash Catalyst generates Adobe Flex®
    code in the background.
