Creating an InDesign document is like building a house—if you don’t know how to start with a firm foundation, the whole thing can come tumbling down. In this short session, you’ll learn some of the most important layout techniques, including working with master pages, layout adjustment, guides, and alignment.
InDesign contains plenty of options that allow you to format text and create styles, but if you look a little deeper into the application, you’ll see how easy it is to also create custom type effects. Traditionally, these kinds of effects are created in programs such as Illustrator or Photoshop and placed as graphic links into an InDesign document. However, by applying InDesign’s built-in effects to type—such as feather, drop shadow, transparency, and the blending modes—you can create some really cool type effects right in your document without having to go outside of InDesign.
