  • 10 Tricks Every InDesign User Needs to Know (9:00–10:15)

Here are ten tricks that every InDesign user should know (but few people do). From essential shortcuts to formatting imported text and graphics quickly, this session is chock-full o’ jewels that will promote you to master level in no time!

    Text and Graphics (10:30–11:15)

Learn how to work with text and graphics like a "Power Pro" —from the fastest way to apply styles to the most efficient way to control transparency and linked images. Explore tricks for flowing long documents, anchoring images to text, and formatting type in the blink of an eye.

    Layout Techniques (11:30–11:45)

Creating an InDesign document is like building a house—if you don’t know how to start with a firm foundation, the whole thing can come tumbling down. In this short session, you’ll learn some of the most important layout techniques, including working with master pages, layout adjustment, guides, and alignment.

    • EXTENSIS FONT MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY PRESENTATION & SPONSORED LUNCH (12:00–1:15)

    • Suitcase Fusion 3: Typography Without Limits

Design today requires the ability to work across different applications and media types. Font selections, however, rarely translate to the web or are easy to quickly look through to try something new or find a complementary option for consistent branding across all media.

Extensis will show you how Suitcase Fusion 3 can be used as a central clearinghouse for fonts, wherever you use them. See how effective font management can help you achieve brand consistency with your designs in Adobe InDesign CS5, whatever the target output: print or web.

  • Mastering InDesign Tables (1:30–2:15)

  • InDesign's table features offer incredible power for formatting not only tabular text and images, but for solving some unexpected layout problems as well. We'll de-mystify table styles and show how tables can work for you in all kinds of layout situations.

    Creating Interactive PDFs (2:30–3:15)

  • Learn how to make effective PDFs that include interactivity. We'll look at features in both InDesign CS4 and CS5 that allow you to create PDF documents with compelling features, including automatically generated bookmarks, hyperlinks and navigation.

  • Making it Move: Interactivity and Creating SWFs in InDesign (3:30–4:15)

  • We'll continue exploring InDesign's features for adding interactivity to documents, focusing on new features in CS5 that allow motion animation, timelines and multiple object states.

    Problem? Solution. (4:15–4:45)

  • Everyone comes to these seminars with at least one burning question about InDesign that doesn’t get addressed during the day. Here’s your chance to ask that question, and learn something from the answers to your colleague’s questions.
